Founded in 1994 by immigrants Fernando Lopez and Maria Monterrubio, Guelaguetza has become a beloved landmark of Oaxacan culture in Los Angeles. More than a restaurant, it is a celebration of tradition, family, and the deep flavors of Oaxaca.

Now led by the next generation—Paulina, Fernando Jr., Elizabeth, and Bricia—the Lopez family continues to honor their parents’ vision while expanding Guelaguetza’s reach. From our award-winning mole to our signature Michelada mix, every dish tells a story of heritage and passion.

Featured as The Los Angeles Times 101 Hall Of Fame, The New York Times, GQ, Esquire, and more, Guelaguetza was honored with the James Beard Award for America’s Classics, a testament to its authenticity and cultural impact.

At Guelaguetza, we invite you to experience the heart of Oaxaca—one plate, one sip, and one celebration at a time.
